The new Turkish romantic drama series Aile / Family (2023) follows the passional and tumultuous love story that is born between, a psychologist Devin Aydın (played by Serenay Sarıkaya) and the head of the Izmir mafia, Aslan Soykan (played by Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ). The two first cross paths on a plane, and Aslan seems upset with the noise caused by Devin.
This sets the stage for their second interaction, as initially, they were pure strangers. Afterward, when Devin is unable to find a taxi at the airport, Aslan Soykan offers her a ride, and this chance encounters sets the stage for a life-altering journey. As they drive along the coast in Izmir, they form a connection, and Devin finds herself drawn into the world of Aslan and his family.
The Aile dizi series revolves around the life of Aslan Soykan, a charismatic individual with a powerful personality, hailing from a wealthy family and a crowded family full of secrets living on the same farm mansion. Aslan Soykan is the head of the mafia and the owner of a popular nightclub named “Volta,” where his girlfriend, Aysel (Ecem Simge Yurdatapan), is also performing on stage. After their fated meeting on the plane, Aslan knocks on the door of psychologist Devin to seek a solution to his ”sudden fainting.” Devin will end up treating the entire Soykan family, starting with Cihan (Nejat İşler), the older brother of Aslan, who tried to commit suicide. With Devin joining the family, all their secrets will be revealed, and nothing will be the same as before.
