New K-Drama on Netflix – “Remarriage and Desires” – Everything you want to know

The upcoming K-drama Remarriage and Desires (Korean: 블랙의 신부) is a comedy that criticizes the Korean society that arranges marriages as a strategy for their social ascension. Remarriage and Desires revolves around the Rex dating agency, a service for elite individuals. Their clients wish to enter the highest society and, or maintain their position at the top of the elite through marriage or remarriage. The new K-drama exposes untypical stereotypes of clients that you might find. The slogan of the Korean drama is that “they lived rich until old age.” Who cares about “they lived happily ever after”? Through the Rex dating agency, the leading character is a woman plotting revenge against her ex-husband’s mistress.

• “Remarriage and Desires” is set to have eight episodes and will air on 15th July 2022 on Netflix.

The cast includes Park Hoon, Kim Hee Sun, Lee Hyun Wook, Jung Yoo Jin, and Cha Ji Yeon. Each of them plays a character who, for different reasons, will end up using the services of the Rex agency.

Kim Hee Sun as Seo Hye Seung, an ordinary wife and mother in Gangnam neighborhood in Korea. She lost everything due to the unexpected death of her husband. She lands at Rex not so much to rebuild her life but especially to take revenge on Jin Yoo Hee. The one who she considers responsible for her ex-husband’s death. Seo Hye Seung is ready for anything.

• The tension between the two characters will escalate.

Jeong Eu-Gene, who plays Jin Yoo Hee, is not a saint either. On the contrary, Jin Yoo Hee is a lawyer who can destroy everything to get what she wants.

Lee Hyun Wook portrays Lee Hyung Joo, as the director of a venture company. And the perfect “prey” for every woman. He is a “Black Level” member of Rex (like Cha Seok Jin). That means they are the rich bachelors looking for wives.

Park Hoon plays Cha Seok Jin. A teacher who still “fights” with her stepmother Choi Yoo Seon (Cha Ji Yeon) over her father’s enormous legacy.

Cha Ji-Yeon as Choi Yoo Seon, is the director of the Rex dating agency. And her favorite slogan reads: “Marriage is a business where supply and demand meet.” Choi Yoo Seon is a woman shrouded in mystery, which will play an important role in the story.

The director Kim Jung Min explained the show’s theme:

“Some people believe that marriage is a natural complement to the love between two partners, but others believe that it is a way to increase your social status and wealth.”

 

Regarding his characters, he said:

“They seem to have different goals. But only the starting point is different, because they all reach the same result. When you look at these people who are doing their best to achieve their ambitions.I hope you think about what you want and what kind of life you want to lead. ”

• The actor Jung Yoo Jin liked the topic of the drama: “The story is both challenging and realistic.”

• And Lee Hyun Wook remarked: “The topic of the matrimonial agency is something new.”
