What’s the story?
Purple Hearts follows the story of Cassie and Luke, who end up in a fake marriage for military benefits. From desperation to succeed in life is born one of the most sparkling love stories. Cassie is a talented young musician at the beginning of her career struggling with poverty and diabetes, for which she has no health insurance. Luke is a young man who is fresh out of drugs and managed to enter the Navy, but it is under the dealer’s threats to whom he owes money. A fictitious marriage would benefit both, Cassie would get her free diabetes treatment, and Luke would get a paycheck to pay off his debts. Pressured by circumstances, Cassie came up with the idea, and Luke initially refused.In the end, the duo set up the ” fraud marriage” even though they don’t really like each other and are not on the same wavelength with their interests. Unforeseen situations will complicate their fictional marriage. Purple Hearts’ story intensifies when Luke gets arrested for the fake marriage or when his legs are crushed during a mission in Iraq.

Production
Soon after acquiring the rights from Alloy Entertainment, the filming for Purple Hearts started in August 2021 and wrapped up by October. Filming locations include Los Angeles County, Riverside, San Diego County, and Austin, Texas. Directed by Allen Rosenbaum, and thanks to the military adviser and Navy Veteran James Dever, Purple Hearts got filmed on base at Camp Pendleton.
