Birce Akalay as a jury member at the 27th German Film Festival: A Showcase of the Best Films from Germany and Turkey

The 27th German Film Festival was a huge success, attracting over 6,000 spectators to 58 events showcasing some of the best films from Germany and Turkey. The film festival also saw more than 60 artists and prominent names from the cinema industry hosted, with Birce Akalay being one of the jury members.

On the opening night, Honorary Awards were presented to Şerif Gören and Michael Verhoeven. The award ceremony featured three different selection committees announcing nine awards and prizes worth 12,000 euros. The feature film category from Germany saw Sophie Linnenbaum’s The Ordinaries being selected as the Best Film, while Çilingir Sofrası, directed by Ali Kemal Güven, was awarded the “Grand Jury Award.” Birce Akalay presented these awards.

The festival also recognized the best performances by actors and actresses. The Best Actress Award was given to Hanna van Vliet for Der verlorene Zug (The Disappearing Train), while the Best Actor Award was given to Berkay Ateş for the film Karanlık Gece . Özcan Alper’s film Karanlık Gece was also recognized by the audience, receiving the Audience Award.

Birce Akalay and the other jury members deserve recognition for their hard work in selecting the winners. Overall, the 27th German Film Festival was a great success and left a lasting impression on everyone who attended.
