Michael Jackson Biopic:
Produced in collaboration with the Michael Jackson estate, it may influence how the film portrays the multiple allegations of child sexual abuse brought against Jackson during his career and following his death.
- Antoine Fuqua will direct the Michael Jackson film, while Graham King will produce it.
- The movie, which starts shooting in 2023, is signed by John Logan, who wrote “Gladiator,” “Skyfall,” and “Spectre.”
Michael’s biographical film comes at a time when there has been an explosion of celebrity biopics in recent years, such as “Elvis,” about rock legend Elvis Presley, “Bohemian Rhapsody” about Queen singer Freddie Mercury, and “Rocketman” about icon Elton John, to name a few. Finding Jaafar Jackson
Producer Graham King, whose credits include “Bohemian Rhapsody,” said the team administered a worldwide casting search before finding the actor who would portray Michael Jackson.
But he eventually found the perfect candidate in Jaafar Jackson:
“I met Jaafar over two years ago and was blown away by the way, he organically personifies the spirit and personality of Michael. It was something so powerful that even after conducting a worldwide search, it was clear that he is the only person to take on this role. I am beyond thrilled that he has come on board to portray his uncle and cannot wait for the world to see him on the big screen as Michael Jackson.”
“It’s incredibly exciting to watch Jaafar bring Michael to life,” said Antonio Fuqua:
“There was such a spiritual connection when I first met Jaafar, who has a natural ability to emulate Michael and such a great chemistry with the camera.”
