Netflix’s dizi series Midnight at the Pera Palace (2022) tells the story of Esra (Hazal Kaya), a young journalist assigned to write an article about the legendary Pera Palace Hotel. Esra, who tours the hotel all day with the manager Ahmet, also visits Agatha Christie’s famous room, where she finds a doorway traveling to 1919. The last period of the Ottoman Empire, the year when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk started the War of Independence. Passing through this door, Esra is time traveling to 1919 where she learns about a political conspiracy and finds herself trying to prevent the assassination attempt against Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. For the Turkish Independence War to start, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, needs travel to Samsun. However, Esra will make a mistake and almost prevent the establishment of the Turkish Republic by mistake. The biggest reason for this mistake is Esra’s statement to the British enemy troops… as if Mustafa Kemal had already made his salvation plans and set off.
