DIZI – Ömer (2023) is a new Turkish drama adapted from the Israelian TV series Shtisel (2013), starring Shtisel, starring Selahattin Paşalı, Gökçe Bahadır, Barış Falay and Merve Dizdar. Produced by OGM Pictures and directed by Cem Karcı from a script signed by Gülizar Irmak, the dizi series Ömer (2023) premiered its first episode on January 9 on Star TV.

The Turkish series Ömer (2023) follows the love story between a divorced older woman, Gamze (Gökçe Bahadır), and Ömer (Selahattin Paşalı), the young muezzin of the neighborhood mosque and a temporary religion teacher at a secondary school. Despite feeling discouraged by past experiences and fear of losing her way again, Gamze falls in love with Ömer. The strongest opponent of this love will be Reşat (Barış Falay), the mosque teacher and Ömer’s father.
A love affair that challenges the conventions of the community and Muslim traditional beliefs, but they will stick to it even if it seems impossible.

Ömer – WHAT’S THE STORY? (Synopsis)
The Turkish drama series Ömer (2023) follows the forbidden love story between a divorced older woman, Gamze, who returned to the neighborhood she left after years, and Ömer, the youngest son of the local mosque teacher. A love that defies societal norms and family customs, one that they will hold on to despite all the impossibilities.
Ömer (Selahattin Paşalı) is a humanist with a rich inner world who likes to paint and is calm and concise. On the other hand, when it comes to his lifestyle and wishes, he can become determined, resilient, and stubborn. Besides being the muezzin in his neighborhood mosque, Ömer is also the temporary religion teacher at a secondary school. With the sudden appearance of Gamze in the neighborhood, Ömer’s life will alter forever.

Despite the challenges he will encounter, Ömer can’t resist his growing affection for Gamze.
Gamze (Gökçe Bahadır), who has returned to her neighborhood with her son Tuna after ending her marriage to a man her family opposed, is trying to acclimate Tuna to their new life while seeking acceptance from her mother and older sister. Despite her past experiences causing her to feel tired and stuck, she falls in love with Ömer, who is younger than her. However, even with her bravery and courage, Gamze remains hesitant, acting cowardly and fearing that she may lose control of her life again, which she is trying to put in order.
Reşat Ademoğlu (Barış Falay), the teacher of the local mosque, whol lives with his mother, Nezahat, and his son Ömer. Reşat has two more children named Tahir and Nisa. He is estranged from his daughter Nisa due to her marriage which goes against his wishes. When he learns of Ömer’s love for Gamze, Reşat disapproves of this relationship and takes steps to prevent it from progressing.
