WHAT’S THE STORY? (Synopsis and Cast)

Sadece Sen / Only You (2014) starring İbrahim Çelikkol and Belçim Bilgin

The Turkish film Sadece Sen / Only You (2014) follows Ali played by İbrahim Çelikkol, a former boxer, who tries to create a new chapter in his life and close the door to his violent and painful past. The old Ali did everything for money, choosing the most painful and risky path – illegal fighting. If the old Ali had brave courage with a cold soul like a glacier in the North Pole, now, the new Ali is described by a single word-Regret.

Hazal played by Belçim Bilgin is a beautiful and intelligent woman who has managed to keep herself independent, even though she is blind due to an accident.

Each protagonist sees in each other salvation. Fate unites them, but little do they know what the universe has planned for them. As much as you want them to be together, it feels unfortunately unattainable, and suspense builds up as those feelings slowly fade. The doubt “will they/won’t they” is tangible and constantly present as there is no guarantee for their future.
  • Both protagonists are loyal, humble, honest, and haunted by the past.
  • Their stories are raw and with deep dramatic touches.
  • Hazal and Ali save each other in astonishing ways that help both of them to grow as persons.

The story of the Turkish romantic drama movie Sadece Sen / Only You (2014), starring İbrahim Çelikkol and Belçim Bilgin, starts on a rainy evening with Hazal, going on the usual trip to Amca’s workplace to bring him her home-cooked meals. But this evening, her uncle quit his job as a guard in a parking lot, and Ali is his replacement. Alone and in need of companionship, Hazal comes daily after finishing her call center program to make her newest friend forget the boredom at work. As days pass, their friendship deepens, so does their bond. Visibly, confused and frustrated by Hazal’s visits, Ali only craves his isolation for a self-imposed exile to escape the past that haunts him.

Ali helps her get rid of the obsessed boss from the call center. Slowly, Hazal gains more self-confidence, and Ali’s love becomes a source of hope for her. In exchange, Ali finds in Hazal, the warm and good side that he thought no longer exists. Ali wants to do something worthy of a hero. He wants to give his loved one a new vision, a new ‘look.’ The road to there got sprinkled with a bag of dangers. The first step is to return to the bloody ring of illegal fighting. Will Ali be able to win the decisive match, having it as his life stake? Will Hazal get a new look, will she be able to see Ali?

A DEEPER LOOK INSIDE

The story of the Turkish film Sadece Sen / Only You (2014) is pure and different because both Ali and Hazal do not see their claim to happiness as a divine right that everyone is entitled to it. You rarely get to see protagonists wondering if they deserve happiness. Or if they even truly deserve their’s lover affection.
  1.  This is the default theme of the epic turkish drama movie “Sadece Sen / Only You.”
  2. Both characters share these doubts straightening the storyline.
  3. A very harsh, rare, and refreshing narrative.

The passionate and tender chemistry between İbrahim Çelikkol and Belçim Bilgin on the screen is undeniably appealing to watch, a chemistry that never fails to amaze me. To share the screen as a couple is a team effort. And without a strong chemistry, the entire romance is doomed. But, the Turkish romantic drama film Sadece Sen / Only You (2014) is one of those rare movies to achieve it. In the Turkish movie “Sadece Sen,” the disability of Hazal was not used as a plot device and rather as a conduit.
    • Without her vision, our heroine is focusing solely on Ali’s heart, which causes him to go within himself, as well.
    • While Hazal can not see the haunted face of Ali, she trusts her intuition and deep feelings.
Can you watch the turkish romantic drama film “Sadece Sen / Only You” on Netflix with English Subtitles? No, but you can watch it on Youtube, where has available subtitles in multiple languages.

Surprisingly for Turkish dramas, the end of the film Sadece Sen / Only You (2014) brings your wishes for the protagonists to fruition. You root for the protagonists from the beginning till the end. You root for them separately and then together. Their acting performances are another pylon that puts the movie Sadece Sen (2014) on the list of Best Turkish Dramas You Must See This LifeTime.
