The storyline of “Scream 2” follows the protagonist of the first film, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), and other survivors of the Woodsboro massacre, who are now college students at the fictional Windsor College.     Sam Carpenter is also dealing with her own personal demons, including her hallucinations of her biological father, Billy Loomis, who was one of the original killers from the first Scream movie. The group discovers that the killer is following the rules of a “requel.” Ghostface targets people related to the original killers by using Sam’s connection to Billy, as a way to weave the legacy characters into the new storyline.

    Dewey, Wes, and Sheriff Judy Hicks are killed in the process. In a twist ending, it is revealed that the killers are actually two fans of the Stab film series, who are disappointed with the direction of the latest film and decide to embark on a new killing spree to provide source material for a future “requel” Stab movie.

    Scream VI (2023)

    “Scream VI” is an upcoming slasher film and the sixth installment in the Scream film series, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a script by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. The film will is a direct sequel to the 2022 film “Scream,” starring Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox.

    • However, the film will not feature Neve Campbell, who declined the offer to return as Sidney Prescott, making this the first movie of the Scream franchise without the actress/character.

    The upcoming release of Scream VI, with a production budget of $35 million, is scheduled for March 10, 2023, and is anticipated to earn an estimated $37 million during its opening weekend in the United States.
