Netflix Turkish series Another Self / Zeytin Ağağı (2022) tells the story of three good friends – Ada (Tuba Büyüküstü), Leyla (Seda Bakan), and Sevgi (Boncuk Yilmaz), whose friendship bond is put to the test when one of them is diagnosed with an incurable disease. The three protagonists, Ada, Leyla, and Sevgi, have known each other since university. Their friendship will give them the strength to surpass life’s difficult moments.
Ada is a successful surgeon, and Sevgi is an ambitious lawyer. On the other hand, Leyla has made no effort to build a career, unlike the two of them. She lives a quiet life with her husband and son.

Their bond will go to a completely different level, when Sevgi is diagnosed with cancer. Despite Ada’s advice to start the classic treatment for cancer at the hospital, Sevgi goes after a completely different hope, an unconventional type of treatment. Sevgi asks Leila to take her to Ayvalik to find a mysterious man named Zaman, who, is a kind of healer.
When the girls realize Sevgi will not change her decision, they will embark together on a spiritual journey to overcome their traumas and change their lives forever. When they arrive in Ayvalik, the girls attend a therapy session to connect with their spiritual selves. The search initiated by Sevgi will cause unexpected events not only in her, but also in the lives of her friends, Ada and Leyla.

Surrounded by the archipelago of Ayvalık Islands, the city was the perfect location for the production site. The filming started in August 2021 and wrapped three months later in early October.
