BABA / FATHER – WHAT’S THE STORY? (Synopsis)
The Turkish drama series Baba (2022) depicts de events in the life of the Saruhanlı family after finding out a shocking truth that will suddenly change their life forever. A crowded family living in an apartment in Ödemiş ruled by an authoritarian father, Emin, who is firm regarding his family values. Emin Saruhanlı’s will is turned upside down when he finds out that his estranged brother and his entire family died in a plane crash.
Their brotherhood bond broke years ago, and since they haven’t spoken. Meanwhile, his brother became one of the richest men in Turkey, and Emin, as his only living relative, inherited all his fortune. The plane was returning from Buenos Aires, where Mehmet Ali Saruhanlı and his whole family participated in the wedding of his grandson, Ilhan Karaçam.
Emin, who is strong in his beliefs, didn’t want to accept the inheritance from Mehmet Ali Saruhanlı at first, but learning he is suffering from an incurable disease makes him change his mind. He is secretly struggling with Alzheimer and accepts the fortune for his family. Emin and his family relocated moved from Ödemiş to Istanbul, and they will go under drastic changes in circumstances. Moving from a small apartment to a huge mansion will take a while for the family members to get used to it.

There are hints about a conflict between Emin, and his son Kadir, who just got out of prison, over the concept of family, where they have a different vision. He was in jail for 4 years because of an internal family dispute, which could have been solved, but Emin refused to speak up for him with the police.
