The Turkish movie Delibal (2015) tells the heartbreak love story of two young people, Baris and Füsun, striving to build a future together. Baris (Çagatay Ulusoy) is an architecture student struggling with a psychological disorder who composes musical pieces as a hobby. One day his life changed by meeting Füsun (Leyla Lidya Tugutlu), a brilliant sociology student who works as a waitress in a bar where Baris went with his friends.
The two of them can’t be more different in concepts and visions of life. On one side, Bariş is a carefree and dreamy character, his only goal being to live and enjoy life to the fullest. On the other side, Füsun is a conscientious student, who never goes beyond the word of the family, and her only goal is education.

Fully mesmerized by her presence, Baris tries to find out who is this girl, where she lives, and who does she love? He must find a way to get in touch with her again. Baris learns that they study at the same university, so the chances of meeting each other are immense, and this actually happens. He finds Füsun, but it’s pretty hard to win her heart because her only goal is to graduate from college and continue her master’s in America. Barış, who is a charming young man, finally achieves this. He makes Füsun fall in love, and they end up getting married. A decision considered foolish by the families of the two. Their life is like a fairytale until one day when the tale ends suddenly.

Barış suffers from bipolarity, and his illness drives him crazy, changing his behavior to a strange, uncontrolled, unbalanced, and incomprehensible one. It all starts when Bariş disappears without a trace. Where is he, and what happened to him? The movie begins with the last moments of Bariş, depicting him on a cliff in the early morning, picking up a flower and glancing at the horizon of the sea. Delibal’s film action moves back and forth between past and future to show us how it all started and what happened on the way to the present day when Bariş is nowhere to find. All he left behind was his car on the edge of a cliff and a CD with a message for Füsun, which explains the reason for his extreme behavior. But that CD is missing too, will she be able to find it and find out what happened to Bariş? Is he still alive or not?
